One workspace for model, drawing and bill of materials.
Upload your STEP model, drawings and bill of materials (BOM) per assembly. BOMproof checks them against each other and shows every deviation right where it sits. You stay in control.
One click on Start check. What happens next, in four steps.
01
Read
Product structure, positions and materials from the STEP, text and bill of materials from every drawing, rows from the Excel. Plain code, no AI yet.
02
Review
Model, bill of materials and drawing are reviewed at the same time, each by its own AI specialist with only the data it needs.
03
Summarize
Duplicate comments are removed. You get one report with a summary and suggested next steps.
04
Point out
Every comment gets a place: a pin on the part in 3D and a balloon in the right view on the drawing.
engineer
Reviews the comments, ticks off what has been handled and decides on the release
Method
Counting and measuring is done by deterministic code on your own files; the AI specialists only judge what a deviation means. Every check ends as a proposal with a source for each comment: you tick off and decide on the release. Is something on this page not right? Email info@bomproof.nl, and we will correct it and note the new date here.
02Check points
What does BOMproof check in your STEP model?
The same points for every design. Counting and measuring is done by code, the AI judges what a deviation means.
Check A
3D model
Design errors you do not see in the tree and only notice on the shop floor.
Check points
A1Parts placed twice in exactly the same spot, including whole subassemblies
A2Parts that touch nothing, with the gap in mm
A3The same geometry under different names
A4Missing or default materials, such as Default (Generic is ignored)
A5Standard parts whose size does not match the name (indicative)
A6Sheet metal that can be formed: bend radius against thickness (DIN 6935), holes out of the bend zone, flange long enough
A7Fits in the model (H7/k6 and the like), no clamping without a fit specification
A8Bolt holes that match the bolt (ISO 273), with edge distance and a head you can reach (VDI 2230)
A9Coating and hot-dip galvanising accounted for: threads masked, layer thickness in the fit
Check B
Bill of materials
The BOM from Excel and from the drawing, line by line against the product structure of the model.
Check points
B1Quantities per position against the quantity in the model
B2Lines that do not occur in the model
B3Parts in the model that are not on the BOM
B4Indented BOMs: number of times the parent assembly
B5Formula errors such as #REF! in the Excel
B6DN, PN and thread type complete per fitting (flange standard, R or NPT included)
B7Make or buy correct per line: own part with drawing, purchased part with supplier and type
B8Standard parts fully described with standard, size, class and finish, no bare M12
Check C
Drawing
Title block, revisions and materials on the drawing against the model and the other drawings.
Check points
C1Drawing number, revision, title and date against file name and model
C2Revision table and notes: contradictions and typos
C3Materials on the drawing against the materials in the model
C4Main dimensions against the dimensions of the model
C5Contradictions between multiple drawings
C6Welds fully indicated (ISO 2553) with WPS number in the flag, no seam without paperwork
C7NDT requirements concrete per weld group: method, extent and class (EN ISO 5817)
C8Tightening torques and thread locker on the drawing or assembly sheet, no dry bolt without a torque
Custom check
A check model for your product group.
The standard check looks at the same points for every design. Do you have your own rules for your product group, such as agreements with the workshop or recurring mistakes you always want to catch? Then we build a custom check model that runs alongside the standard check.
D1Your own check points for your product group, standards and agreements
D2We build and maintain the model, you stay in control of the release
D3Can be combined with Team or Enterprise, also alongside PDM and ERP
03Dashboard
Everything for an assembly in one place.
No more loose folders of exports. Model, drawings, bill of materials and comments are together, per assembly.
Projects and assemblies
Your assemblies per project, each with a STEP model, one or more drawings and a bill of materials. Dragging is uploading.
3D model
Rotate and zoom in the browser, with the comments as pins on the parts. Large designs too, without a CAD license.
Drawing
Every PDF drawing with the comments as balloons on it. Download or print with the comments next to the drawing.
Bill of materials and structure
The Excel bill of materials per tab, and the product structure from the model as an expandable tree with search.
Checklist
Tick off each comment that has been handled. Ticked pins and balloons turn grey, so you see what is still open.
Report versions
Every check is kept as its own version. After a change you check again; earlier reports can always be viewed.
04Files and integrations
Works with the STEP, PDF and Excel you already have.
You export a STEP from your own CAD package and use your existing drawings and bill of materials. We build integrations with PDM and ERP together with our pilot customers.
Models and drawings are years of work and your company's intellectual property. That is why they are kept in the EU, encrypted and separated per company, and nobody uses them to train AI. Below is exactly how, so your IT department can check it.
Stored in the EU
Models, drawings and BOMs are kept in storage that may only be located within the European Union. Project data and reports are at Google Cloud in Europe, and the checks run in Belgium.
Encrypted, in transit and at rest
Everything travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Stored files and data are encrypted with AES-256.
Separated per company
For every file and every report the server checks again who you are and whether you are a member of the company. Administrators and users each have their own rights. Other companies see nothing of your projects.
Not used for training
Your engineering data does not train AI models, neither ours nor those of the providers we work with. The CAD file itself never goes to the language model, only the extracted data a check needs.
You decide, everything recorded
A report is a proposal; an engineer ticks things off. Every check is kept as its own version, with the steps the check took. That way you can later see what a comment was based on.
Delete whenever you want
A deleted file can be restored for 30 days; if you want it gone immediately, delete it permanently from the trash. After your subscription ends we delete your engineering data within 30 days.
Where your files are kept
BOMproof storage in the EU
Cloudflare R2, EU jurisdiction
Location
EU jurisdiction: files are stored only within the European Union.
Encryption
Stored encrypted (AES-256) and only sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS).
Access
Only members of your company. For every file your login, your membership and an active subscription are checked again.
Download links
Signed and valid for 12 hours; after that a shared link no longer works.
Checks
The check only reads the files, from Google Cloud in the EU (Belgium). Project data and reports are also kept in Europe, at Google Cloud.
For a check, only the extracted data goes to the language model (structure, text and bill of materials rows), not the CAD file itself.
Soon you choose yourself, per company
The storage of your company is in the company settings. Right now that is BOMproof storage in the EU; your own storage follows.
BOMproof storage in the EU Available
Your files are kept in a separate storage space at Cloudflare that may only be located in data centers within the European Union. You do not have to set anything up.
Own storage (S3-compatible) Roadmap
Files go to storage you manage yourself, such as a NAS with S3 support (Synology, QNAP, TrueNAS, MinIO) or a bucket at a provider of your choice. BOMproof then only keeps the project and report data.
Local files Roadmap
Nothing is uploaded: you open the files from your own drive and BOMproof only keeps the reports.
BOMproof is a platform of De Gier Engineering B.V. in Maassluis, under Dutch law. We process data in accordance with the GDPR, only for the checks you request, and you keep your rights of access, correction and deletion. Privacy policy
Data processing agreement
Agreements about what we do with your data and what we do not are laid down in a data processing agreement. It also states that your data is not used for training.
Sub-processors
We name every party that processes your data, with the location. Before we bring in a new one, we let you know and you can object. List in the privacy policy
Outside the EU
Your files stay in the EU. If a language model processes extracted data outside the European Economic Area, it is only under the standard contractual clauses of the European Commission.
Infrastructure
BOMproof runs at Cloudflare and Google Cloud. They are themselves certified for ISO/IEC 27001 and SOC 2, among others. Those are their certifications, not those of BOMproof.
Supervision
Not happy with how we handle your data? You can always contact the Dutch Data Protection Authority. autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl
Questions from your IT or security department? Send them via the contact form, and we will go through them together before you start.
